On the occasion of International Oceans Day, established in 2008 by the United Nations during the Conference on Environment and Development and as part of the Decade of the Ocean, the INGV (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), in collaboration with the pan-European marine research infrastructure EMSO (European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory), is proposing a three-day event, from 8 to 10 June, dedicated to enhancing research and disseminating an ocean culture.On the first day on 8 June, the first panel will focus on the theme: ‘OCEAN AND TERRITORY SYNERGY – The past and future of the Mediterranean coasts between Earth and Human Sciences’. Participants will include Marco Anzidei, geologist at INGV, Flavio Enei, Director of the Museum of the Sea and Navigation-Archaeologist, Barbara Barbaro, archaeologist at the Ministry of Culture, Tarek Elhaik, anthropologist at the University of California, and Fabiano Ventura, Director of the project “On the Trail of the Glaciers”, landscape photographer and President of the Macromicro AssociationIn addition to discussing the panel topic with the other speakers, Ventura will talk about the connection between rising ocean levels and the melting of mountain glaciers, presenting in particular the experience and results of the project ‘On the Trail of the Glaciers’.Il panel sarà introdotto e moderato dal giornalista RAI Gianni Maritati.L’incontro si svolgerà presso il Castello di Santa Marinella dalle ore 12:00 alle 13:30.
