Opening of the exhibition “Italian Routes” in Chile

The photographic exhibition “Italian Routes – Mountains, Mountaineering, Climate Change”, an original project of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, realised in collaboration with the Macromicro Association and curated by Fabiano Ventura, will open on 24 October in Concepción, Chile. The exhibition, which was requested by the Italian Cultural Institute in Santiago de Chile, will be held at the CICAT, the Interactive Centre for Science, Art and Technology at the University of Concepción. The exhibition, which will be open until 15 December 2023, aims to show an international audience the great Italian tradition linked to mountain culture and mountaineering as a means of getting to know the mountain environment, the values that this environment carries, the importance of environmental awareness in accessing natural habitats and the attention that Italy pays to the defence of ecosystems.”Bringing the “Italian Routes” exhibition to the Interactive Centre for Science, Art and Technology is an extremely important step for the Italian Cultural Institute in the strategic project of building strong cultural links with the Biobío region and, in particular, with the University of Concepción. This collaboration is all the more important given the value of the exhibition and the highly topical issues it addresses, such as the fight against climate change,” said Cristina Di Giorgio, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Santiago.Several institutions contributed to the realisation of this Chilean stage, including the Italian Cultural Institute of Santiago, the Cultural Office of the Italian Embassy in Chile, the Centre for Environmental Sciences EULA-Chile and the Interactive Centre for Sciences, Arts and Technologies of the University of Concepción – CICAT.

The exhibition, on tour from April 2021 to August 2024, has already visited prestigious venues in Vietnam, South Korea, Israel, Switzerland, Georgia, Albania, Kosovo, Norway and Argentina, and now arrives in Chile before returning to Europe.
