The exhibition “EARTH’S MEMORY ” in world premiere at the Fortress of Bard

The exhibition “EARTH’S MEMORY – Glaciers, Witnesses to the Climate Crisis”, in its world premiere at the Forte di Bard in Aosta Valley, continues with success.

The exhibition, which could be visited until the 18th November 2022, presents the results of over 13 years of the project “On the trails of the glaciers”, the photographic-scientific journey designed and directed by photographer Fabiano Ventura, created to document and show the shocking effects of climate change on the planet.

Given the richness and complexity in its contents, the exhibition occupies multiple spaces within the beautiful setting of the Fortress of Bard for a total of 700 square meters. In the Cannoniere, alongside the more than 90 photographic comparisons made in Karakorum, Caucasus, Alaska, Andes, Himalayas and Alps, videos of the expeditions and interviews with the researchers and protagonists of the project are projected on 16 monitors and scientific data are presented through data visualization tools made by ESA (European Space Agency).The second area of the old military chapel will house photographic comparisons in panoramic format, set up on semi-circular structures to create an immersive effect; an interactive video-installation entitled Walking Through Time by video-artist Paolo Scoppola; and a display case with original documents by Vittorio Sella. Finally, a section will be dedicated to the extensive iconographic research that preceded each expedition and to the restoration work on historical photographs and the post-production work on all the photographic material.
