Photo exhibition: On the Trails of the Glaciers, 1909-2009

From 25 February to 1 April 2010, the exhibition 'Sulle Tracce dei Ghiacciai; 1909 - 2009: un secolo di cambiamenti climatici sui ghiacciai del Karakorum' (On the Trails of the Glaciers; 1909 - 2009: a Century of Climate Change on Karakorum Glaciers) will be on display in the Sala S. Rita in Rome.

The inauguration is scheduled for 24 February at 6 p.m. at the Sala S. Rita, Via Montanara 8, a stone's throw from Piazza Venezia.

The exhibition - promoted by the Department of Cultural Policies and Communication of the Municipality of Rome and organised by the Macromicro Association in collaboration with Enel Green Power and Zètema Progetto Cultura - displays the results of the first expedition of the photographic-scientific project "On the Trails of the Glaciers", which took place in 2009 in the mountains of K2, Karakorum, in Pakistan.

The exhibition, consisting of over 40 high quality, large prints, offers a comparison between historical and modern images of the Karakorum glaciers, to highlight the changes that have occurred over the last 100 years to these glaciers, which are sensitive indicators of the climate changes taking place on our planet.

Two large Sony LCD screens in the hall will also show the trailer of the documentary, made by SD Cinematografica during the expedition, and a slideshow of historical and modern images.

The exhibition is accompanied by the catalogue, which is available in the hall.

There will also be three meetings with the author on 3-12-19 March 2010 from 17:00 to 18:00.

The exhibition hours are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed on Mondays and Sundays).
